Key Stage 4 Drama

Edexcel GCSE Course. A 2 Year Course. 60 % internally assessed by the teachers, 40% externally marked by an Examiner from Edexcel. The course offers a wholly practical approach to drama. Students explore themes and issues through their drama lessons using a variety of dramatic techniques including different forms of stimuli, explorative strategies, the drama medium and the elements of drama. 
Unit 1.
Drama Exploration is concerned with exploring a theme/topic/issue and developing improvisation from this.  The exam comprises of a 6 hour practical workshop and a written controlled assessment.
Unit 2.
Exploring Play Texts is concerned with exploring an entire play text and focuses on exploration of character and interpretation of the themes and issues arising from the play.
The exam comprises of a 6 hour practical workshop and a written controlled assessment.
Unit 3.
Drama Performance is externally assessed and is concerned with the skills needed to perform work to an audience. A devised or scripted play is marked by a visiting examiner. Students may offer acting skills or performance support and design skil
